Sliding scale
We believe that mental health care should be accessible. With that in mind, there are limited sliding scale spots available, meaning that services would be offered at a reduced rate. These rates are not a one-size fits all; it is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to: financial situation, work/school status, frequency of sessions, mental health needs, and so forth. Contact us today to discuss options.
Please note that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations or rescheduling sessions within this 48 hour time frame will result in a cancellation fee.
Extended Health Benefits
Do you have extended health benefits? If so, counselling services through Sonder may be covered by your plan! We at Sonder are registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) as Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) and also with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) as Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC).
Most insurance plans cover services by these types of practitioners, but please note that you are responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate coverage. Clients are encouraged to check with their providers to ensure they can be reimbursed for sessions. Direct billing is not offered at this time but a receipt will be issued to you with credentials listed for you to submit to your insurance provider.

Counselling Without Borders
While Sonder is based out of BC, counselling services may be available to those outside of BC. Counselling is regulated at a provincial level in Canada, meaning that each province or territory may have their own rules and regulations around the practice and scope of counsellors. In BC, we are still working towards regulation. There are also other provinces and territories that are similar to BC in being unregulated, which means that you may work with a counsellor outside of your province given certain rules set out by CCPA. The following provinces and territories are currently unregulated in Canada: BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Alberta is currently regulated but the college has not yet been proclaimed. Psychotherapy is currently regulated in Ontario and Quebec.
What does this all mean? For those that are residing in unregulated provinces, you may seek out services from Sonder! To learn more about regulation across Canada, click here
